  1. Dear Inderjit
It was good to see ou again at Launde Abbey. I introduced the Santuary material at school during Refugee Week this summer. The autumn term is my last term. I wonder if I could ask you to contact me to see if you might possibly be able to visit please? My email is below

  2. Hello Inderjit
I do hope that you are well.
I am making contact to see if you are able to help an organisation that I am a trustee of. The Wharfedale Foundation is a small grant making trust which was founded in 2009 from the proceeds of the sale of Scargill House in Wharfedale. It provides small grants to organisations across Yorkshire and the Humber who are addressing the issues of breaking down societal barriers, integration of marginalised groups within communities and a concern for the natural environment. Sajda Shah was our previous chair and she will also have an invitation to the event I am about to invite you to.

We hold an annual event after each AGM to showcase the projects we have funded. This year, being our tenth anniversary, we are planning to hold an event which will be open to a wider public with two guest speakers as well as presentations from grant holders. We would like to invite you as one of those speakers as it would be good to have someone who is familiar with the sort of issues faced by the people supported by our grant holders. These include the need for a safe refuge, poverty and austerity, and marginalisation and the social and political context that is creating those issues.
The event will take place on Tuesady, 11th June at St. George’s Centre in Leeds from 2.00 – 5.00 p.m. and will be followed by refreshments.

It would be great if you could help us, and we would much appreciate you doing so.

    Best wishes
    Ann

  4. Dear Dr. Rev. Bhogal,

I hope this email finds you well. My reason for writing you is to enquire about your work as as President of City of Sanctuary. I teach Hebrew Bible at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and I am conducting research at the Centre for Criminology at the University of Oxford as an Academic Visitor.

    See: https://www.law.ox.ac.uk/content/academic-visitors-2018-19
    and https://louisville-institute.org/awards/project-grant-for-researchers/14315/

My research topic deals with the nature and role of religion in Immigration Detention, both in the US and UK. More specifically, I am comparing the provision of religious services in detention like chapels, literature, and chaplains as well as faith communities opposing detention as a life-giving mode of human care.

If your time permits, I would be very grateful for any direction, guidance, suggestions you could provide on the above topic. I would also be interested in hearing more about your work with the City of Sanctuary movement.

If I may, would you be open to meeting sometime in June of July? I could arrange to visit you at your office if that is convenient. I am sort of starting this process with very little UK connections to draw from. So, I would greatly appreciate any guidance or potential resources you could provide.

Many thanks for your time and consideration of my enquiry.

    With kind regards,
    Gregory L. Cuéllar

  5. Good morning Inderjit
I understand that you have very kindly said yes to David Perry’s invitation to you to come to Scarborough on Tuesday 12th May to launch Scarborough as a City (Borough) of Sanctuary.
On that day a Councillor is putting forward a motion to Scarborough Borough Council to the effect that the Council welcomes refugees and organisations helping them. We see this day as a proclamation and celebration and an ideal time for a public launch.
We will be honoured if you could address a public meeting.
    Best wishes
    Ray

  6. Dear Inderjit,

I hope you are well and happy.

I was delighted to hear that you received the World Methodist Council Peace Award for 2018 in recognition of the diversity and far reaching impact of your endeavours in peace and reconciliation.

It is respect and esteem of your work that I wish to approach you on behalf of The Abbey Sutton Courtney to request that you give the Founders Lecture to make the fortieth anniversary of the organisation co-founded by the late Right Reverend Stephen Verney and the late Fred Bloom.

The date of the Founders Lecture is 21st September 2020 but some adjustment is feasible should this date be unsuitable to your schedule.

I would be deeply honoured to meet with you to elaborate on this request at a time, date and location at your conveniencce, or to forward further details about event and The Abbey Sutton Courtney.

It would be wonderful to see you again.

    With my best regards,

    Melvin Lyons

  7. Loved your walk with Claire Balding on the Wilberforce Walk. I did a walk with her as part of the Sheffield (Black Men) Walking for Health Group.
Now, with Journey to Justice, see webpage below, we are planning to do a series of summer walks for social justice. I’d love to talk with you about this. In October 2019, we had a display of our work at the City of Sanctuary, Sheffield.

    1. Hello mark.
Thank you for taking the time to write.
I did take a look at the website, but didn’t see any details for the planned summer walks, though I presume the plans are currently on hold.
I’d be glad to talk with you.
      Blessings.

  8. Dear Mr Bhogal,

Thanks a million for your wonderful work. I am a PhD student in human geography and am research on the CoS movement in The UK. I am based at Bristol University. I was wondering if I can get an online version of your 2009 book ‘Becoming a City of Sanctuary: A Practical Handbook with Inspiring Examples’ . Would really appreciate if possible as owing to the current pandemic our university libraries are closed.

    Warm Regards,
